Laro ng Lahi 2010
ACADEMY ONE held its 1st Annual Sports Festival dubbed Laro ng Lahi 2010 last Janury 30, 2010. The games were participated in by students from all levels. We believe in the Greek precept that we should not only nurture the mind but we should also develop the body. Our very own Teacher Cyndel designed the games and stood as the event chair.
The event organizers decided to come up with age-specific games themed around the traditional games played by Filipino children. Outdoor events included tumbang preso, luksong lubid, luksong tinik, piko, step no-step yes, karera ng bao, limbo rock and paluan ng itlog. Indoor events were sungka and dama.
The students were divided into two teams to compete in all the events. "TEAM OUTLOST" was the Blue Team, with members Racel, Camille, Faye, Ardie and a special import athlete Jhamiel. Their team was coached by Teacher Fe. The Red Team was "A1's PIRATES" with members Arajy, NJ, Kylla and Seiha. They were coached by Teacher Carol.
Team Outlost won many of the events and was proclaimed Overall Champion. Team A1's Pirates won in the Cheerdance Competition.

Fire Safety Drill
In line with the requirements of the Fire Code of the Philippines and as an integral part of the Academy's Fire Safety Plan, we had a two-part Fire Safety Drill last January 23 and February 4. The faculty and staff had a table talk drill while the whole student body went through a table talk and silent fire drill. Through these activities, ours students understand and learn the importance of fire prevention, more importantly, they learned how to decisively act in cases of fire emergency. The table talk drill included seminars on understanding the building's fire safety features like fire alarm, portable fire extinguishers, emergency lights, escape ladders. The BFP handled the seminar on the proper use of fire extinguishers for small fires. Our special thanks to the Bureau of Fire Protection, specially the Naic Fire Station and to Fireman Josef Ruel H. Catibayan who conducted the fire extinguishment seminar.

Our Christmas Party!
Last Dec 18, we had our Christmas Party. To celebrate the coming of our Savior and to express our familial bonding, the theme for this year party was "School's Christmas Angels".
The students prepared no less than four imaginative dance numbers to present, complete with costumes. Food and drinks were shared by everyone. Games were played and prizes handed out.
It was so heartwarming as we exchanged our gifts with one another. An image of a family sharing the warmth of this season and giving tokens of love, solidarity and respect.
From the members of the ACADEMY ONE family, we wish you all a Meaningful Christmas and a Joyous New Year!

NJ's Birthday Bash
More than just a party, it was a bash! NJ's birthday actually falls on the 26th of December. But she would really love to share the fun with her classmates and having a party at school is just so cool that we have to advance the celebration on the 17th of December. Just right after our 3rd Quarter Exams! The party was hosted by the indefatigable Teacher Carol and Cyndel. The bash was attended not just by her classmates and friends but by the whole school. Her close family also attended the affair. There was flowing food and drinks and lots of games and giveaways. Just about everybody had fun!

Annual Field Trip
We broke out of the classroom walls and went into the great world outside last November 27,2009 to learn more about this planet where we all live in.
All members of our learning community participated in the 1st Annual Field Trip of the school. The theme was “Flora and Fauna Festival: The World Is My Laboratory”. The purpose of the activity was to expose the students to the planet’s different life forms, especially plants and animals so they can learn and understand the rich diversity of life and in the process learn to respect it.
To accomplish this goal, we went out to explore the zoo facilities of Residence Inn Resorts in Tagaytay City and the myriad gardens of Caleruega in Nasugbu, Batangas. The experience gleaned from this activity enhanced our learning, and expanded our knowledge more than can ever be taught within the walls of the classroom.
The teachers enthusiastically organized this field trip by preparing activities that made this event fun, exciting and most importantly, educational. The fun began right inside the bus as we travelled our way to Tagaytay City. A seminar entitled “Saving Mother Earth: How to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot” was conducted by Mr. Mervin M. Pascual. This seminar enjoined all participants to begin a lifestyle change wherein conscious actions are taken to create an earth-friendly style of living.
Awards were then handed out for the winners of our Foundation Day activities. We saw exotic animals upon our arrival at The Residence Inn. After exploring the zoo facilities and finding out what kinds of animals where in there, Teacher Carol and Cyndel conducted fun educational activities and games to recap our visit at the zoo.
Then off we went to Caleruega in Batangas. It was a place of tranquil beauty and serene surroundings. We had a great time resting in the gardens and exploring the great outdoors offered at Caleruega. After having our meals under the shady mango trees, Mrs. Fe D. Hernandez conducted a seminar entitled “Mabulok Ka: Basic Composting for the Home”. The seminar taught us the basics of composting as a component of waste reduction and management. After the seminar, we explored Kampo Arriba and hiked to the top of the hill to see the nearby mountains.
Fun games awaited us upon our return to the camp. Again, Teacher Carol and Cyndel prepared a game “The Amazing Earth Race” where we had to perform physical and mental challenges along the race course. It was such a fun and exciting game. We also had an animal sound game where the mother animal looks for her baby animal by calling out in animal sound. It was hilarious and fun.
After some rest, we went up to the main facilities of Caleruega and visited the Chapel of Transfiguration where we prayed and thanked God for the wondrous beauty of His Creation.
A side trip to the Summit Ridge of Robinson’s and the famed Mahogany Market also helped us to immerse in the local culture of Tagaytay City.
Overall, this activity was not just fun, exciting and educational. It was also pleasurable and informative. It was a congenial bonding moment for the members of our learning community. Where everybody shared in the learning process and got thoroughly involved in teaching the students the importance of caring for and nurturing Mother Earth.
